We ended our week with a fun filled sports day, fun lunch and family picnic. Despite the rain, students had a great time trying the various sporting activities around the school and sharing lunch with family and friends.

Learning Update This past week we had an in school field trip with our special guest Valerie from Scientist in Schools. She taught us about the 5 senses; smell, taste, sight, hearing and touch. In Math this week, we continued to explore addition and subtraction problems up to 20. We had some fun creating pictures out of blocks to represent our math problems. Coming Up

If you forgot to send them back, please do so on Monday. We are continuing to work on our animal research in science. This past week, the students were using books to research their animals and began writing up their research findings. Next week, they will continue to write up their research finding an use videos to discover what they can do to help their animal. We will begin to talk about the final report and what types of presentations interest the students. In Math, we looked at different strategies for adding and subtracting. We created a strategies booklet that will allow students to review what strategies they can use when problem solving for addition or subtraction. Strategies include drawing a picture, using a number line, counting on fingers, using tally marks and more. We will continue to explore word problems using the different strategies that we learned about. [email protected] In Science class, we started work on our Animal Research Books.
We are researching our animal's appearance, diet, habitat, adaptations and predators. In Math, we are practicing word problems using addition and subtraction with numbers up to 20. We have finished the oral retelling of the story How the Elephant got his Trunk. Next, we will be watching our presentations and reflecting on what went well and what we will work on in our next presentation. Coming Up:
